A stellar audience of VIPs and property professionals attended a glittering reception this week to officially launch The Capella building in Glasgow.
Named after the brightest star in the constellation Auriga, the iconic building was bought by British Airways Pension Trustees from developers Wilson Bowden in December and is looking forward to welcoming its first tenants MacRoberts LLP.
More than 80 guests were treated to a tour of the iconic building and a buffet lunch.
Adam Sadler of landlord British Airways Pension Trustees Ltd said: “Capella is a real flagship building for us, the International Financial Services District and Glasgow and I am sure there will be a great deal of demand for space there in the months ahead.”
At 116,978 sq ft (10,867 sq m) the 11-storey, Capella is Broomielaw’s largest and tallest office building, offering 76,613 sq ft of prime office space and 4,736 sq ft of retail and leisure space.
Three and a half floors of the building, which was completed in August, have already been leased to MacRoberts LLP. A fit-out of the space, covering 34,635 sq ft, is underway and the commercial law firm plans to move in during Spring.
Andy Cunningham, Partner at Cushman & Wakefield, which are joint letting agents with Jones Lang LaSalle said: “Today was a great opportunity to showcase the building. While Capella offers the best Grade A office accommodation in Glasgow, it is not till you are actually in the building looking at the 360 degree views of the city that you realise just what an impressive proposition it really is.
"The landlord is offering some of the largest Grade A floors currently available in the market at competitive rents, which represents excellent value for money for such an iconic building.”
Mike Buchan, Director at Jones Lang LaSalle said: “There are encouraging signs of interest from the market from potential tenants keen to join MacRoberts in this landmark building.”
Capella is the centrepiece of Atlantic Quay in the Broomielaw part of the International Financial Services District, which has been so crucial to Glasgow’s economic regeneration. It is located in a flourishing business district employing approximately 16,000 people already endorsed by a portfolio of blue-chip occupiers from ScottishPower plc, RBS, AXA, Lloyds Banking Group and Capgemini. It has attracted substantial investment to the area with major attractions including the Tradeston pedestrian bridge, new public realm and restaurant quarter on the Clyde waterfront at Broomielaw Quay.
Ideally located for the city centre and a wide range of business, leisure and shopping facilities, Capella is also in close proximity to Glasgow Central Railway Station, St Enoch Subway and Junction 19 of the M8 Motorway. The recent extension to the nearby St Enoch Shopping Centre provides access to a whole range of new retailers including Hamleys, H&M and Debenhams. |
