Global transport and logistics company DSV Road is to open a new distribution facility at the Eurocentral business park in Lanarkshire later this month.
The organisation is building a 55,000 sq ft bespoke facility which will incorporate a cross-dock and storage warehouse along with office space on a 5.5 acre plot at Eurocentral acquired from Scottish Enterprise. The new facility will open on April 27th.
Scottish Enterprise, Project Manager, Paul Wedlock brokered the deal and said: “I warmly welcome the announcement that DSV Road Limited is about to open their purpose built distribution facility at Eurocentral Business Park.
“Eurocentral is one of Scotland’s key commercial developments with extensive transport links providing a high quality environment for businesses. It is an excellent base for a company such as DSV which has growth ambitions and requires a modern, premier business location.”
Peter Reid, Regional Manager DSV Road, says: “In light of the continued success of DSV Road in Scotland and the acquisition of Roadferry last year, we have decided to expand the services DSV Road offers in Scotland.
“Moving to a purpose built facility in Lanarkshire will enable us to expand whilst continuing to offer a local service to existing customers. Remaining local means we have also retained the skill set and experience of our staff.
“Eurocentral is the premier logistics hub in Scotland due to its strategic location close to all the major motorway links and its dedicated rail link providing direct rail access to destinations across the UK and Europe. As a road transport export and import specialist, DSV Road will benefit from having facilities in this prime location.
DSV Road is part of DSV, a global supplier of transport and logistics solutions. As a result, DSV Road’s European road freight service is complemented by an extensive range of Air & Sea freight services. “DSV Air & Sea will also have a facility at Eurocentral ensuring that our customer’s multi-modal service requirements can be fully met,” added Mr Reid.
Existing occupiers at Eurocentral include News International, Warburtons, TDG Logistics, Wincanton, NCR, DHL, Cisco and Morrisons.
Muse Developments and Eurocentral Partnership director, Steve Turner, said: “It is significant that DSV Road has selected Eurocentral as one of its key distribution hubs and it sends out positive signals that there is still a strong demand for distribution and warehousing facilities at this prime location.” |
